Marcel Livet began his mountaineering career in the early 1920s and took his first steps within the prestigious French Alpine Club of Lyon in 1927.
He quickly became a passionate and committed advocate for the development of mountain activities, which were not yet widespread in France at the time. He contributed to the development of alpine skiing in France, both in terms of practice and teaching, as well as the development and maintenance of mountain refuges, which were necessary for the growing popularity of mountaineering.
President of the Lyon section during the war, he remained an active member for more than ten years on the Himalayan committee, alongside Jean Montel and Louis Gevril. He was also a member of the executive committee of the French Alpine Club in Paris, alongside Mr Herzog in particular in 1952.
