A tribute to Marcel Livet

MARCEL LIVET, A COMPANY COMMITTED TO FRENCH TRADES

A FAMILY HISTORY

A true legacy, passed down from generation to generation since Marcel Livet in the 1930s to 1950s. The passion for skiing, mountaineering and mountain traditions lives on today through Victor EDOUARD, Marcel Livet's great-grandson and founder of the brand.

Marcel Livet was passionate about skiing and mountaineering, sports to which he devoted much of his life. Together with his climbing companions, he paved the way for what is now a widespread skiing practice, but also for the beautiful yet irrational quest to reach the highest peaks.

MARCEL LIVET, COMMITTED MEMBER OF THE FRENCH ALPINE CLUB

Marcel Livet began his mountaineering career in the early 1920s and took his first steps within the prestigious French Alpine Club of Lyon in 1927.

He quickly became a passionate and committed advocate for the development of mountain activities, which were not yet widespread in France at the time. He contributed to the development of alpine skiing in France, both in terms of practice and teaching, as well as the development and maintenance of mountain refuges, which were necessary for the growing popularity of mountaineering.

President of the Lyon section during the war, he remained an active member for more than ten years on the Himalayan committee, alongside Jean Montel and Louis Gevril. He was also a member of the executive committee of the French Alpine Club in Paris, alongside Mr Herzog in particular in 1952.

Maurice Herzog wrote to MARCEL LIVET upon his return from his victory on Annapurna in 1950.

Louis Gevril, Paul Gendre and Jean-Jacques Languepin, members of the 1951 Himalayan expedition, wrote to MARCEL LIVET upon their return.
