Skis Manufacturing

WELCOME TO OUR FACTORY IN ANNECY

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

The design office is the strategic location for ski creation. This is where it all begins, with a sketch, a drawing or even a sample. It is the place where ideas are turned into reality.

It is the engineer's role to imagine, design, dimension and test all ideas, even the craziest ones. We set no limits on creativity.

Finally, only the most tried and tested projects will leave the design office to join the MARCEL LIVET product range.

WOOD, THE MAIN MATERIAL USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF OUR SKIS

Wood is a natural, complex material that must be understood. This noble, authentic material does not have the standardised characteristics of most synthetic materials. By nature, wood is the natural material used in ski construction that offers the best ecological footprint. Used as widely as possible, it makes up the entire core and edges. It is the most widely used material in skis. Wood is part of our DNA. All the cores of our skis are developed from solid wood, combining the performance of ash, poplar and bamboo according to the configurations and intentions of the models. Each type of wood provides its own balance of weight, strength and elasticity.

Mechanically, it is undoubtedly one of the key components of the construction, providing the necessary power, sometimes lightness, and always the signature of a unique feel on the snow.

TECHNICAL AND ROBUST CONSTRUCTIONS

The fibreglass and Titanal reinforcements used around the core are tailored to each configuration.

Fibreglass, an essential component in construction, is the material that allows for the adjustment of elasticity and mechanical strength. The choice of weave, weight and fibre orientation forms the basis of each ski's design.

The inlays that adorn our skis are made in France. Laser-cut, they are then assembled and sanded by hand to ensure a perfect finish.

The cores are shaped in France. Made from ash wood assembled into battens, they are cut, profiled and then moulded in our workshops, giving them their final shape.

Our MARCEL LIVET medals, in bronze or silver, are cast in a French art foundry. They reflect the expertise and quality of meticulous craftsmanship.

A UNIQUE QUALITY OF FINISH

The quality of a handmade ski and the attention paid to every detail guarantee the best performance on the snow. We limit our production in order to maintain the quality that sets us apart and offer our customers a perfectly finished, meticulously crafted and unique product.

SKIS DESIGNED TO LAST

Selecting the best materials is essential for the construction of our skis. The core, made of laminated wood, is crafted along the grain of the wood and runs the entire length of the ski. This allows it to fully express its character. It provides a uniform base for the ski, which will retain its mechanical properties over the seasons, ensuring the long-term stability of our products.

As with any great recipe, where the best ingredients are essential, we select the finest materials for manufacturing our skis. All the wood used to construct the cores is sourced from sustainably managed forests and is FSC certified.

Depending on their characteristics, the wood species come from either French forests or exotic wood forests, as in the case of bamboo.
