MARCEL LIVET, A COMPANY COMMITTED TO FRENCH TRADES

A TRIBUTE
TO MARCEL LIVET

A true legacy, passed down from generation to generation since Marcel Livet in 1930, MARCEL LIVET wooden skis are reviving the passion for skiing and the history of French skiing pioneers by bringing traditional craft methods back to life.

MARCEL LIVET is above all a tribute to my great-grandfather and the generation of alpine skiing inventors who accompanied him.

Marcel Livet was passionate about skiing and mountaineering, sports to which he devoted much of his life. Together with his climbing companions, he paved the way for what is now a widespread skiing practice, but also for the beautiful yet irrational quest to reach the highest peaks.

MARCEL LIVET, KEY FIGURE IN
THE CONQUEST OF THE HIMALAYAS

Among the executives of the French Alpine Club, of which he had been a member since 1927, Marcel Livet served as president for several years in Lyon. A member of the Himalayan Committee for more than 10 years, he was notably involved in preparing the third French expedition to the Himalayas in 1951, to conquer the roof of the world. This expedition was nicknamed ‘the Lyon expedition’.

Expedition leader Roger Duplat and his climbing partner Gilbert Vignes disappeared while crossing the summit ridge of Nanda Devi, at an altitude of nearly 7,800 metres.
